Samsung wants to have 50 Vietnamese enterprises as a primary supplier by 2020
From 4 businesses in 2014 up to 27 businesses at the present time. It is expected that Samsung's first-tier enterprise will increase to 29 by 2017 and 50 by 2020.The information was provided at the second supporting industry conference in 2017 at the Samsung Electronics Ho Chi Minh Complex (SEHC), to find and connect potential Vietnamese suppliers. Big involvement in the supply chain of the SEHC complex in particular and of Samsung in Vietnam in general.
This event was attended by 18 businesses from ministries, business associations and was well-evaluated after the initial survey from Samsung. These are the business of air-conditioner motors, washing machines, printed circuit boards for TVs and home appliances, TV signal decoders and automation equipment.
Samsung will develop a plan to advise and train one of these companies to improve their manufacturing capabilities and improve the standards of supplying products and components for Samsung factories in Vietnam. .
Mr. Shim Won Hwan, CEO of Samsung Vietnam, said: "Starting with these support industry seminars, we have found and trained Vietnamese suppliers. has great potential ".
He also said that by the end of 2017, the Group aims to increase the total number of Vietnamese suppliers to Samsung to 29 enterprises and to 50 enterprises by 2020.
From 4 businesses in 2014, up to now Samsung has 27 Vietnamese enterprises supplying Samsung factories in Vietnam including Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV), Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEVT), SEHC Samsung Display Vietnam (Bac Ninh), Samsung SDI Vietnam (Bac Ninh) and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam (Thai Nguyen).
The supporting industry for high technology is one of the three key areas in the development strategy of the supporting industry in Vietnam.
The SEHC plant was started in mid-2015 and was officially put into operation in June 2016 with a total investment capital of US $ 2 billion. The SEHC complex has a closed production process that includes everything from assembly of the finished product to the production of the main components of the product.
