On September 16, 9, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang attended the inauguration ceremony of Hana Micron Vina's semiconductor factory project in Van Trung Industrial Park, Viet Yen district (Bac Giang). This is the first semiconductor manufacturing project in the North.
Hana Micron Vina (Korea) is an enterprise manufacturing and processing integrated circuit boards used for mobile phones and other smart electronic products, with a total registered investment capital of nearly 600 million USD. Phase 1 of the plant came into operation from 11/2020.
Choi Chang Ho, chairman of Hana Micron Vina, said that by 2025, the company plans to increase the total investment to over $1 billion, annual revenue is expected to reach $800 million and create 4,000 jobs for Vietnamese workers.
Hana Micron Vina in Vietnam will be the number one manufacturing base in Hana Micron Group's global business, and the recruitment force in Vietnam will account for 70% of the total workforce. According to the plan, it is expected that this year, the Company's revenue will reach 300 million USD.
Hana Micron Vina will develop a new semiconductor industry ecosystem in Vietnam, contributing to the diversity of innovative technologies and techniques that Vietnam is pursuing. Choi Chang Ho said, adding that the core factor that makes South Korea become the semiconductor powerhouse it is today is relying on elite human resources.
He believed that Vietnam would quickly develop into a focus country in the field of advanced industry based on excellent and diligent human resources. Hana Micron Vina will nurture Vietnam's elite young talents to become highly skilled human resources in the semiconductor industry.
Bac Giang is an attractive, reliable and safe investment destination for many foreign investors (FDI). In particular, investors from Korea stand out. Mr. Le Anh Duong, Chairman of Bac Giang People's Committee, said that with 345 projects, Korea is the first country in the number of projects, the second in terms of total registered investment capital in Bac Giang province.
Korean enterprises account for about 25% of the total industrial production value of the FDI sector in the province. More than 1,200 Korean experts and workers working in Bac Giang have brought to the province an important resource, helping the province's entrepreneurs and workers to study, exchange, access modern technologies, professional management and working styles, etc effective.
With the expansion of investment and production; adjusted to increase the total investment capital of the project to nearly 600 million USD; Hana Micron Vina has become one of the projects with the largest investment capital per hectare (about 90 million USD/ha), about 8 times higher than the average investment rate of FDI projects in industrial parks in the province today.
Bac Giang determined that the project of Hana Micron Vina Company has important socio-economic significance. This is the first semiconductor manufacturing project in the North.
The effective implementation of the project will be the foundation for the development orientation of the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Bac Giang province in particular and in the North in general. At the same time, it is an opportunity for Bac Giang province to attract more high-tech projects in line with the Government's guidelines and strategies to attract investment and the province's development orientation in the coming time.
